James Berrett

James Berrett is an internationally recognised academic and creative practitioner whose work spans the intersections of art, design, and digital technology. He is an award-winning expert and currently holds the position of Senior Lecturer and Discipline Coordinator of Immersive Media at Swinburne University of Technology.

James specialises in immersive media, motion design, visual effects, interactive media, media architecture, and media arts. His creative practice explores the use of real-time systems, extended reality (XR) technologies, and artificial intelligence to craft immersive and interactive experiences.

His most recent work, Standing Still, was exhibited at THE LUME Melbourne, the world’s largest digital art gallery. His recent accolades include the 2022 Victorian Premier’s Design Award (Best in Category – Digital Design), the Australian Good Design Award 2022 (Winner – Digital Design: Games Design and Animation), and the DNA Paris Design Awards 2022 (Graphics Design: Interactive Design).
